American Miniature Horse

The American Miniature Horse is a miniature horse that originally comes from the United States of America. The miniature horse breed arose as a result of an extraordinary mix. The intention was to breed a small horse that looked like a thoroughbred so they chose to cross thoroughbreds with Shetland Ponies. In 1978 the AMHA (American Miniature Horse Association) was established and this now has about 200.000 miniature horses registered.

There are three main types : the Arab, Quarter Horse and the Warmblood. These miniature horses can not exceed 34 inches in height  and all colours are permitted.

Breed objective: To produce the smallest possible perfect horse
